People watch 1

People watch. For this assignment, I have to watch people, it is sort of like I have got to spy on them, stalk them analyze their every moves and post my ‘report’ to my blog. Ok, here it goes. Every day, when o am coming back home from school, I will have to take an overhead bridge. Most of the time I take this bridge, I see this old man sitting at the side of the bridge with a signboard beside him that claims he is singing a song. What I don’t understand is that when I walk past him, I do not hear him sing.
He holds a small child’s toy that has bells, shakes it and ‘sings’ in a language that I do not know. Now, while whenever I see him I will soon start to wonder is he some kind of a busker or is he really begging for money masking the whole thing with the ‘sing song card’ as begging is illegal In Singapore. I can never see this man as a busker, but only a someone who is begging on the bridge. Most people get income in similar ways are often crippled or have some kind of physical defect in them, But they do not beg, instead they sell stuff or busk with musical instruments. This man, he looks perfectly normal, except for his old age.

This old man wears a striped shirt, the typical old man type, pants and always a must have is a cap. The cap i think is suppose to play the purpose of blocking his identity. To tell the truth, i really find this kind of people annoying. When you are able bodied, you don’t sit at a corner and start begging at least find a job, I don’t know what this old man’s problem really is but i don’t think what he is doing is right. I do get surprised when people actually give him money. Maybe its just out of compassion.

One Response to “People watch 1”

  1. It’s tough. I would have liked more observations of a physical description, but that might have involved staring at him in an inappropriate way. What a challenging location for the selection of person.
